Hooded Plovers information session
A special information stall hosted by Birdlife Australia and Bass Coast Friends of the Hooded Plover is happening at 7am on Saturday, January 16 in San Remo.
The session aims to help dog walkers and members of the public share the beach with a pair of Hooded Plovers, which are attempting to raise chicks this summer.
Stephen Johnson, coordinator of the Bass Coast Friends of the Hooded Plover group said the session will include an information stall and a presentation from a Hooded Plover expert.
“There will be a with doggie treats and a complimentary dog lead for those attending with their canine.
“It will start at 7am in the Lions Club Picnic Park on Davis Point and Back Beach roads,” he said.
“Local Hoodie Volunteers will be present along with a Hooded Plover expert – Dr Kasun Ekanayake from Birdlife Australia’s Beach Nesting Bird Team – to answer question and talk about the plight of the Hooded Plover and how you can help them when out walking your dog on this beach near their site.”
