Island stars in local production
Oscar Tuchtan of Cape Woolamai and Nick Carlson of Cowes star in the Leongatha Lyric Theatre’s sold out production of Wind in the Willows, at Mossvale Park from January 22 – 26.

If you are making your way to Mossvale Park this week be sure to look out for two local characters.

Leading Senior Constable Nick Carlson of Cowes, and 10-year-old Oscar Tuchtan of Cape Woolamai, are starring in Leongatha Lyric Theatre’s family friendly, sold out production of Wind in the Willows.

Oscar is in Year 5 at Newhaven College and has featured before in productions with Wonthaggi Theatre. He plays the role of Melvin the Impish Mouse and relishes every opportunity to perform.

Also, not a newcomer to the stage Nick rather fittingly has been cast as the Constable. Nick has performed in previous shows with his children Emily and Brittany who are graduates of Newhaven College, however this time he is going solo, but with the full support of his family.

The show features all the favourites such as Weasel, Mole, Rabbits, Ducks and Toad in this original take on the well-known story. The production features amazing costumes and characters supported by marvellous musicians.

Many hours have gone into creating the wonderful handmade costumes and masks, such a beautiful display of colour and character. Whilst half the wardrobe was existing, the creative director Colin

Mitchell and team including Vicki Bristow and Brian Ahearn have rebuilt the wardrobe, originally made by Dianne Boucher and Jill Ryan, to its original grandeur from 20 years ago when the show was last performed by Lyric.

Mossvale Park – a picturesque location surrounded by English and European ornamental trees and shrubs – is the perfect backdrop for this show. Full of colour and movement and charming friendly characters, this show promises to have everyone laughing and cheering for more. Wind in the Willows will be performed at Mossvale Park from January 22 to 26, 2021, with two performances daily.

Tickets are sold out.
