The Island Time Big Band is playing the Black Box Theatre at Newhaven College on Sunday November 30 from 2pm to 5pm, presenting world-class music performed by a unique community ensemble.
The Island Time Big Band is made up of some of South Gippsland's finest musicians, joined by Newhaven College parents, staff, students and alumni. This intergenerational lineup brings a rare depth of talent, camaraderie and local pride to the stage, making Sunday's performance a standout event.
The program features an exciting mix of Count Basie swing, the explosive energy of Gordon Goodwin, the brilliance of Maynard Ferguson, brought to life by the superb trumpet section. Add to this the smooth sophistication of Natalie Cole and Michael Bublé.
Audiences will also be treated to a collection of fresh new arrangements, showcasing the band's creativity and originality.
Musical director and pianist, Matthew Goss said he's excited to showcase the band in their premier performance after working away in rehearsals all year.
"It will be great to share our love for big band music with a warm and receptive audience," he said.
"Adding further star power to the afternoon are feature vocalists Elisha Labriola and Aoife O'Connell, whose stunning vocal performances bring warmth, flair and emotional depth to the band's already dynamic repertoire."
