It's a TIDAL wave
This year's Deckie Race at the TIDAL Seafood Festival (September 20 - 22) is fundraiser for the Kilcunda Bass Cricket Club. Last year, The Baggers team of Corrie (Inverloch) and Burner (Phillip Island) completed the course in one minute.

From September 20 to 22, San Remo is hosting the TIDAL Seafood Festival, celebrating the town's traditions and fishing industry, as well as highlighting the local culinary scene.

The event is a fantastic mix of heritage, local seafood, entertainment, stalls, markets, kids entertainment and more.

The weekend kicks off on Friday night with the Festival Cocktail Dinner, where guests can feast on local, sustainably sourced Bass Strait seafood. Hosted in a marquee on the foreshore, tickets are $125 per head and selling fast, so book now.

A key part of the weekend is Saturday's Blessing of the Fleet at the San Remo Jetty. Originating in Sicily hundreds of years ago, providing for a safe and plentiful season, the local tradition dates back to 1955 with the first blessing centred around Couta and crayfish boats. There is no cost to take part, but please register your boat online.

A major - and fun - part of the festival is the hotly contested National Deckie Race. Run by the Kilcunda Bass cricket club as a fundraiser, on Saturday this beachside race will see teams competing in cray-pot rolling, shovelling ice, fish-bin carrying, plus a bit of running too. You must be 15 or older to enter.

There will be plenty of other games for the under 15s and prizes to be won. You can register your interest online, or at the race area on Saturday.

Markets stalls, information booths, food stalls and entertainment will run over the weekend, and on Sunday a special Clean Up San Remo event kicks off early.

Tickets for the event are $10 per day for adults, or $15 for the weekend. Under 16s are free.

Profits from the entry ticket to the event will be donated to local emergency services.
