Jade plays her final game for the Island

This week's game proved quite an emotional affair, with the Island Youth Girls' captain, Jade Ricardo playing her final game for Phillip Island.

Jade has been a consistently strong performer for the Island team over many seasons.

She came to the club with great football skills and acumen, and it wasn't long before she cemented her place as a valuable member of the team.

This year was a difficult one for the team, with many older girls not returning to play, but Jade - who just recently turned 18 - has shown great loyalty to the club and the Coach, staying to play her final season with the team.

Jade has led from the front every week, putting her body on the line and giving encouragement to the much younger and less experienced players.

She never backs away from a contest and has demonstrated through this learning season, that she has many qualities she could use if she were to move into the area of coaching.

Unfortunately, the Island couldn't get the job done in their final game for the season against Woodside, but what was exciting was the number of U14 girls playing prior to the Youth Girls' game and witnessing them step up in a second game for the Youth Girls.

The future of female football is looking strong.

Scores: Woodside 5.9.39. Phillip Island 0.0.0.

Best players: Jade Ricardo, Lily "Elbow" Bow, Mikki Leary, Mia Ward, Lily O'Loughlin and Tess Ricardo.
