A report from the Phillip Island District Cricket Club

Phillip Island District Cricket Club Junior Program is starting the season with a Zoom meeting on Monday October 5, at 5.30pm to give all the players and their parents an update about the new Covid-safe requirements in line with Cricket Victoria’s return to train and play plan.

As a result of COVID-19, cricket this season will look different to any other season, but we are determined to have a fun-filled, enjoyable season.

As a club we are fully committed to providing a safe environment for members of our club (volunteers, players, families, spectators) and the wider community and are committed to providing quality practices in line with guidance available from Sport Australia, Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, our local council, the Victorian State Government/Department of Health and Human Services and other relevant authorities applicable to our club.

We acknowledge that cricket in a pandemic is a privilege, not a right.

We all need to ensure we are doing the right thing to ensure the safety of players, volunteers, officials, and the local community.

An email containing the login details will be sent to all registered Junior players from the 2019-20 season, so please contact us at pidccjuniors@outlook.com should you not receive these details or did not play last season.

The briefing will cover topics such as what to do when arriving at training, how training will be conducted in smaller groups with many activities on the ground and in the nets and what to do when training finishes.

Training for the Under 16s will commence the following day, Tuesday, October 6 and for the Under 14s and Under 12s, training will commence on Wednesday, October 7.

Our extremely popular Blasters program had over 60 participants last year and will be starting on October 8.

Please ensure you register early for this as we expect that it will again be very popular.

Registrations for Blaster and all junior players will again be completed online via the MyCricket link, which can be found on the PIDCC website http://phillipislanddistrictcc.vic.cricket.com.au/
