Letting her hair down for charity
Vet nurse Sabrina Luiz (pictured with a baby crocodile) is fundraising for the World's Greatest Shave, with a garage sale this weekend, with the shave at the Cowes Primary fete in March.

A Phillip Island vet nurse who will cut her long hair for charity is holding a fundraising garage sale this weekend in Cowes.

Sabrina Luiz, 35, is hoping to raise $5000 for the World's Greatest Shave, and on February 17 will hold a garage sale at Boonderabbi Way, Cowes, from 9am-2pm, which will include fairy floss and a sausage sizzle with a gold coin donation.

Sabrina will then shave her chest-length hair at the Cowes Primary School fete on March 9, about 1.30pm for the blood cancer fundraiser.

Her seven-year-old daughter Zuri - who is in grade three at Cowes Primary - will complete the buzz cut number two shave.

"I'm slightly terrified but I'm committed now," she said, adding it had taken about five years to grow her hair to this length.

The hair will be donated to make a wig, and any small shaves will be donated to help clean up oil spills.

Sabrina works at the Newhaven vet clinic.
