Letting her hair down for charity
Going, going, gone: Vet nurse Sabrina Luiz had her hair shaved recently for the World's Greatest Shave, fundraising more than $4,100.

A Phillip Island vet nurse has raised more than $4,100 for charity by cutting her long hair.

Sabrina Luiz, 35, lost her tresses for the World's Greatest Shave, a blood cancer fundraiser, at the Cowes Primary School fete earlier this month.

Her seven-year-old daughter Zuri - who is in grade three at Cowes Primary - completed the buzz cut number two shave.

"I was slightly terrified," she said, adding it had taken about five years to grow her hair to that length.

"It's weird to feel the wind on my head."

The hair was donated to make a wig, and small shaves were donated to help clean up oil spills.

Sabrina works at the Newhaven vet clinic.
