Lockdown lifted!
Restrictions will ease across the state from 11.59pm tonight (Tuesday, July 27)

Restrictions will ease across the state from 11.59pm tonight (Tuesday, July 27).

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews made the announcement this morning, thanking the community for adhering to the lockdown restrictions of the past fortnight.

“To every Victorian who checked in with our QR system, who got tested and quarantined, and stayed home to slow the spread of this virus, thank you – it’s because of you we’ve able to get on top of this Delta outbreak and open up our state.”

However the Premier stressed there are still thousands of Victorians in quarantine and "people will need to remain vigilant to stay on top of this highly infectious Delta variant".

He said it was vital that Covid-Safe behaviour like checking in everywhere every time and wearing a mask continued. He also urged people to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible.

Key changes from tonight include:

  • Able to leave your house for any reason
  • Schools reopen from tomorrow
  • Restaurants and cafes reopen - for seated service
  • Retail, beauty and personal care open, in line with density limits
  • Entertainment venues, live music venues and community facilities reopen, in line with density limits
  • Gyms, dance classes and physical recreation facilities can open with a density requirement of one person per 4sqm
  • Public gatherings of up to 10 people allowed

However there are still no gatherings permitted in your home and masks must still be worn everywhere outdoors.

In a change to work arrangements, the Authorised Worker List has been dropped - so businesses can reopen (in line with density limits).

Office workers can return - up to 25 per cent or 10 people (whichever is greater) - but the government still recommends if you can work from home, you should work from home.

Snow-bunnies can rejoice - as visits to the ski fields are allowed, but entry to all Victorian alpine resorts will require a negative Covid test result within 72 hours prior to visiting.

And while you are able to travel around the state, people will only be able to book accommodation with their household, intimate partner or single bubble person.

Weddings and funerals can have a maximum of 50 guests.

Restrictions on the cross border bubble with NSW have been tightened, due to the ongoing outbreak in NSW.

As NSW is classified as an Extreme Risk Zone, anyone (including returning Victorians) will need a specified worker permit, transit permit or an exemption to enter Victoria.

Despite the lockdown lifting, there are still over 300 exposure sites listed on the state government's coronavirus website.

And any Victorians currently in quarantine still need to remain there for the full14 days, receive a negative Day-13 test and be notified by DHHS before they can finish their quarantine period.

Anyone who has a Covid test (but has not visited an exposure site) must isolate until they receive a negative test result.
