Melbourne man fined for attempting to visit Phillip Island
Police statistics released today confirm a man was fined for travelling from Melbourne to Phillip Island yesterday.
The man said he was going to visit friends.
He was issued with a fine - one of 56 handed out across the state in the past 24 hours, including 12 for people failing to wear face masks.
Police said 25,799 vehicles were checked at vehicle checkpoints and 1732 spot checks were carried out on people at homes, businesses and public areas.
