Meet the candidates forum cancelled

President of the Phillip Island Conservation Society, Jeff Nottle said logistics had made it impossible for the group to organise a Meet the Candidates night as hoped.

Originally planned for April 29, the event has now been cancelled.

“The PICS organising group for the Meet the Candidates event has been working through the challenges of holding an event of this nature at this time,” Jeff said.

“Many challenges arose in relation to the holding the event as a live in person forum and we also looked at a hybrid situation together with zoom.

“That option has audio visual challenges to make it work in a large venue as well as wanting to avoid the Meet the Candidates becoming just another zoom meeting.

“As a result it has been decided to cancel the proposed PICS forum planned for April 29. It will not be held online or in person.

“However, PICS will ask the candidates questions related to conservation. We will publish the responses on Facebook and on our website and also provide the responses to the local media.”
