U12 Blue

The U12 Blue team hosted Inverloch in beautiful weather at the Kennel on Mother's Day.

Captain for the day, Ry Sheers gave his well thought out pre-game speech, delivering it with passion.

The team started off well and kicked their first goal within the initial minutes of the game.

The U12s knew it was going to be a big ask, playing the reigning premiers, but this didn't dampen the pups' spirits.

Midfield was asked to run and run, and that's exactly what they did. The back line was under heat across all four quarters with some impressive work from the team's bottom ages.

Inverloch claimed victory in the end, but the pups never gave up - which is exactly what coach Mick asked for.

Scores: Phillip Island: 2.5.17. Inverloch-Kongwak: 8.4.52.
Best players: Jaxon Summerfield, Robin Bodaan, Riley Whyte, Ry Sheers, Zac Ivey and Miller Sund.
Goals: Archer Summerfield and Miller Sund - 1.

U10 Red

On Mother's Day, the U10s made the trek to Korumburra. The pups were happy with the weather, and the boys and girls wore black arm bands for the match, in remembrance of Rob Weinzierl.

They had another great week of tackling and new goal kickers - with Lachie Dallinger kicking his first goal.

The kids were encouraged to get around each other and they showed great sportsmanship to one another, both sharing the ball and scoring - another great game, with the team showing improvements each week.

In celebration of Mother's Day, the kids gifted their mum's chocolate at the end of the game - the team thanks all the mums who volunteer every week.

Awards: Bohdan, Oscar, Lachie and Harper.

U10 Blue

A perfect blue sky autumn morning set the scene for a home ground Mother's Day clash against Inverloch for the U10 Blue team - ably led out by this round's Captain, Tate Steward.

From the first siren, Inverloch repeatedly applied pressure into their forward line, however were met with a defensive wall led by the class of Quil Edwards, driving the ball out of the backline on multiple occasions with excellent support from Ethan Cleary and Elijah Laughton-McConnon, showing great run and strong marking throughout the match.

Ball pressure was ferocious across the board, leading by example were Logan Reginer, Dash Janson and Reeve Dennis, but there were certainly no passengers.

With both teams playing clean football, it was Phillip Island that broke through with great ball movement from the midfield, repeatedly driving the ball into the forward line, that was capped off with a clean gather and snap on goal by Sam Martindale. A just reward for him and the rest of the team after continued pressure.

As the game progressed, we witnessed a hard-fought arm wrestle with limited scoring opportunities and some great run and carry from players such as Eddie Maier, Leith Cameron, Ryder Fisher, Sunny Woodrup and Cooper Bennet, resulting in a snapshot and goal by Quil Edwards.

It's another good result and reward for the U10s efforts at training during the week, most importantly with plenty of smiles and plenty to build on for the rest of the season.

Awards: Logan, Elijah, Sam and Ryder.

U14 Girls

On Friday night under lights, the PIFNC hosted a double header - Phillip Island V Inverloch and Leongatha V Dalyston.

It shaped up to be a fantastic atmosphere with a great crowd, to watch some great footy.

In the island's battle against Inverloch, the girls did an excellent job in the midfield, gaining possession and getting it down to the forward line.

Inverloch had a great defensive barrier, but the girls did a fantastic job to keep it in there. The island's backline was exceptional in the girls' persistent efforts in driving the ball back to our midfield.

The island witnessed some tough and skilful tackles by the girls, along with an amazing chase down to prevent a goal by Inverloch.

Scores: Phillip Island: 1.1.7. Inverloch-Kongwak: 8.5.53.
Best players: Phillip Island: Stellah Tilley, Violet Haigh, Brinkley Nicolaci, Piper Nicolaci, Mackenzie Marr and Ella Baker.
Goals: Gemma Fischer - 1.
