NAIDOC film festival on Sunday
On Sunday, July 11 the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre is running a mini film festival as part of NAIDOC Week.
As well as presenting the First Nation Short Films from the Canberra Film Festival, the NAIDOC program includes In My Blood It Runs, Firestarter and My Name is Gulpilil.
In My Blood It Runs is a documentary from the perspective of a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy in Alice Springs, struggling to balance his traditional upbringing with a state education.
Firestarter charts the history of the Bangarra Dance Company and the story of the three Page brothers – Stephen, David and Russell – who created one of Australia’s leading performing arts companies.
My Name is Gulpilil documents the life and work of David Gulpilil, indigenous actor and icon of Australian cinema.
