New life, new beginning

Celebrating new life and the festive season in front of the Cowes Uniting Church’s nativity scene last week was the Blandford family.

A blessing of baby Alice Blandford was conducted by St John’s Reverend Ian Turnnidge alongside parents Ramon and Lydia, family and friends.
Grandmother Helen Brown, from Red Rocks, said “it was like no other christening or baptism I’ve ever been to”.

“It felt like the beginning of a new era after two years of anxiety and separation from loved ones,” Helen said.

“After we lit the candles and placed them in the soil, Lydia and Ramon introduced Alice to the congregation to the voice of Louis Armstrong singing Wonderful World. To our surprise, Ian produced a bubble machine.”
