The day culminates at the world-famous Penguin Parade, with access to the visitor centre, an exclusive penguin presentation at 5pm, and the unforgettable experience of watching the little penguins waddle ashore at sunset.
The Nobbies boardwalks will also be open for scenic walks along the rugged coastline, while the Penguin Parade Visitor Centre will host food, drinks and gift shop offerings from midday.
Community Engagement Officer at the Nature Parks, Kim Dunstan said the day offered an opportunity for locals to explore their own backyard.
“Some people have lived on the Bass Coast for years and haven’t experienced the beauty of Churchill Island or the magic of Penguin Parade,” she said.
“Not only is this our day to say thank you to the community for their support each year, but it’s a chance to share the incredible conservation work that goes on behind the scenes at the Nature Parks and in our local community.”
The Nature Parks encourages all Bass Coast residents, landholders, students, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to take part in this annual celebration of community, culture and conservation.
Complimentary tickets for the event are now available and must be booked in advance using the promo code COD2025. Bookings close on September 12, with places at the Penguin Parade expected to fill quickly.
To gain your free entry on the day, bring along a proof of residency document, like your Driver’s Licence, rates notice, rental agreement or utilities bill.
