There’s now more to love about your community library.
West Gippsland Libraries is becoming a not-for-profit called Myli – My Community Library. Although their name is changing, what’s not changing is all the bits you love about your community library.
You’ll see the same friendly staff, the same free resources – only now there’s more to explore.
“Library users will continue to experience all they know and love about the service,” said Leanne Williams, CEO of Gippsland Regional Library Corporation.
“We will also continue to develop resources to broaden our services including video programs originally adapted in response to COVID-19 across a range of topics to support the community in areas like mental health and employment.”
This change is being made because a recent update to a Victorian Government law, asked all library corporations across the state to choose an alternative business structure within the next 10 years, to continue operating independently.
Library corporations are known for delivering great library services. With the full support of their current three member councils, Bass Coast, Baw Baw and South Gippsland Shires, West Gippsland Libraries is the first library corporation to choose to become a not-for-profit organisation called Myli – My Community Library.
As a not-for-profit, Myli – My Community Library will provide a range of additional opportunities that will benefit members and patrons, staff and its member Councils.
There are a number of ways you can learn more about the change including a list of frequently asked questions that has been prepared to answer any questions you might have and opportunities to provide feedback.
