Regional restrictions ease from September 13
1 min read

The Premier Daniel Andrews announced today restrictions in regional Victoria will ease from midnight on September 13.

The changes were part of the announcement by the government of a roadmap for Victoria to achieve a "Covid normal", which outlined four steps to gradually ease restrictions.

As there are currently only 98 active cases in regional Victoria, areas outside metropolitan Melbourne will move to the Second Step of the roadmap for reopening the state.

For Bass Coast, this means people living alone and single parents will be able to have a "social bubble" and can nominate one other person – a friend or family member – that can visit them in their home.

Up to five people (from a maximum of two households) will be able to gather together in outdoor public places, such as the park or beach.

Playgrounds will reopen and students will return to onsite learning from Term Four.

The lockdown for Melbourne has been extended for two weeks, until September 28. There have been a number of adjustments to the stage 4 restrictions, including expanding the curfew until 9pm and allowing two hours per day for exercise.

The Premier said "there was no choice but to do this in a safe and steady way" to avoid a third wave and further lockdowns.

Details of the steps towards Covid Normal are available on the DHHS website.
