Works begin on Settlement Road

Bass Coast Shire has commenced road renewal works along Settlement Road between Justice Road and Red Rocks Road in Cowes.

The project, awarded to Stabilised Pavement Australia (SPA) Pty Ltd, commenced in late April and is estimated to take approximately five to six weeks, subject to favourable weather, contractor availability, and material supply.

The total project cost for the Settlement Road renewal works is expected to be around $840,000, which will be partially funded by the Roads to Recovery program ($720,000) and the Council's adopted 2022/23 Capital Works Program ($120,000).

Council said the primary objective of the road renewal works is to ensure the urban road network remains safe and sustainable for the community in the future while maintaining appropriate levels of service.

It said during the course of the project, residents and businesses can expect underground stormwater drainage renewal works, kerb and channel rectification at road intersections, and approximately 800 metres of road pavement works by adding crush rock overlay and foam bitumen stabilisation to the existing road pavement.

The project will also include asphalt road sealing works, line marking, and other associated road works.

Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite, and access to local and emergency services will always be maintained.

Drivers and pedestrians have been advised there may be delays due to the work and have been advised to allow additional time or to seek alternative routes.
