San Remo has a "high level of road fatalities and serious injuries", with Phillip Island Road and Back Beach Road hotspots for crashes.

Parking, speed limits, new roads to be overhauled
In 2020 Regional Roads Victoria released revised plans to upgrade roads in San Remo, which have since gathered dust and are yet to be funded. The new structure plans calls for the funding and rollout of the plans, which include widening the Phillip Island Road to four lanes between San Remo Parade and Bergin Grove.
