Peggy Harris reaches a millennium

Former Phillip Island teacher Peggy Harris last week celebrated her 100th birthday.

Peggy (nee Aldred) came to Cowes to teach in 1950 and met Ventnor farmer Harry Harris at a parish hall dance.

The couple were married in 1954 and had three children: Mandy, Jamie and David.

Peggy was involved in training debutantes in the 1950s and together with Harry was involved in the St Philip's youth group.

The couple moved to the Mornington Peninsula in 1963, where Peggy now lives in a nursing home.
