Midweek pennant results

Division 1 were up against Corinella: Jan Dyer, Pam Cameron, Polly Major and Pat Davis had a draw with 20 shots each.

Marilyn Forrest, Gwenda Arnold, Di Pollock and Nola Brown had a win 26 shots to 22. Robyn Dennis, Richard Poole, Lois May and Bob Hurst had a big win with 29 shots to 9, giving us the win overall 75-51.

Division 2 played Toora: Diane Bateman, Terry Dawes, Monica Poole and John Kappler went down 14 shots to 28.

Phyliss Major, Ash Alibone, Judy Christie and Jan Dixon went down 10 shots to 22 and Sandra Read, Ray Pepper, John Routley and Anne Allen had a win 25 shots to 14 but unfortunately the Island went down overall to 49 shots to 64.

Weekend pennant

Division 1 played in Wonthaggi: Jimmy Kirk, Russel Taylor, Peter Ferguson and Peter Forest were defeated 22-19.

Wayne Barr, Kevin Brown, Russell May and John Newcombe had a win 30-18.

Graeme Cornell, Barrie Goldsbury, John Parker and Daryl Major went down 20-26 … but Phillip Island scraped over the line with a win overall 69-66.

Phillip Island 2 played Inverloch at home: Paul Brown, Marilyn Forrest, Tony McKieran and Dave Hanlon got spanked 9-35.

Brian Arnold, Bob Carter, Chris Fricke and Stuart Cunningham went down 14-28.

Bob Hurst, Alan Beddowes, Steve Kantor and Robyn Dennis had a win 22-18 but not enough to get the overall and we went down 45-81.

Division 2 at San Remo: John Matthews, Polly Major, Kevin Wagner and Phil Martin went down 16-34.

John Kappler, Patrick Ryan, Ian Diss and Norm Waters went down 17-22 and Trevor Gibson, Serge Castel, Bob Anketell and Mike Smith had a big win 35-14, but it wasn’t quite enough to get the

Island the overall win, going down only just 68-70.

Division 4 were up against Tarwin Lower at home: Murray McClimont, Jan Stubbs, Paul Bean and Richard Poole went down 23-30.

Mario Micallef, Bruce Puncher, David Hoffman and Greg Dixon went down 24-30. John Routley, Karen Cashen, Phyliss Major and Ash Alibone had a big win 34-15 to get the overall win for the day 81-75.

Division 5: also, against Tarwin Lower at home: Jim Murray, John Cashen, Peter McGregor and Terry Dawes had a fantastic win 39-10.

Ken Linton, Clive Smith, Di Bateman and Ray Pepper went down only just 20-23 and Sam Cachia, Graeme White, Julie Pora and Carol Hoffman had a win 24-15 for the overall win to the Island 83-48.

Club Championships

Ladies: Carol Hoffman defeated Polly Major 25-19; Carol will now play Sandra Read at 10am this Wednesday, November 24, for a place in the final.

In the other match Karen Cashen defeated Pam Cameron 25-15.

Karen is through to the final which is to be played on Sunday, December 5.

Men’s: A nail biter of a game took place between Bruce Puncher and Daryl Major and it’s the first to 25, they were 24 all, however Daryl snatched the win by 1 shot.

Dave Hoffman defeated Russel May 25-8.

John Mathews defeated John Parker.

Barrie Goldsbury defeated Peter Forrest.

Therefore, the semi-final round is to be played on or before Sunday, November 28 and will be Daryl Major against David Hoffman and John Mathews against Barrie Goldsbury.

Social bowls

Sixteen ladies played and took to the green for a good friendly social afternoon.

The winners were: Neville Stevens, Elaine Severino, Chris MacIntosh and Lynne Thomas with the runners up being, Lance Wearne, Beb Hyslop, Eric Wild and Bev Emmett.
