Red and Blue Pups showcase future Bulldogs
Junior Red and Blue teams going head-to-head.
The Kennel played host to an exciting Phillip Island Derby on Sunday, with the club's junior red and blue teams going head-to-head in a fantastic display of skill, teamwork and sportsmanship.
In the Under 14s, the Blue Bulldogs got off to a flying start, kicking the opening four goals in tricky, heavy conditions. The Red team fought back strongly over the next two quarters but couldn't make the most of their opportunities in front of goal. A tense final quarter saw Blue hold off a fast finishing Red side to claim a 43-28 victory.
For the Blues, the best players were Jasper Goodall, Cody Naismith, Rocco Archer and King Biosvert, while goal kickers were Kai Demblydn (3), Max Robinson, Aiden Smith, Jasper Reynolds and Cody Naismith.
The Red team's best included Miller Sund, Jaxen Marshall, Flynn Wright, Byron Humphry, Will Patton and Sonny Williams, with goals to Alfie Trew, Will Patton and Nash Hornsby.
The Under 12 Derby was another entertaining contest, with both teams producing some outstanding passages of play in beautiful winter sunshine. The Red Pups came away with a 32-19 win, but both sides impressed with their teamwork and determination.
Red's best players were Ethan Cleary, Noah Hollings, Billy Kimber, Alfie Trew, Taj Henzen and Yadin Kershaw, while goal kickers were Noah Hollings, Taj Henzen, Oliver Wright and Quil Edwards.
Blue's best players were Levi Dedrick, Ryder Fisher, Sid Elliott and Hugo Joyner.
Congratulations also to Fletcher Hennessy, Leith Cameron and Elijah Laughton-McConnon, who celebrated their 50-game milestones for the club.
The Under 10s continued their excellent development with another strong team performance. Their hard work on the training track was evident as they linked up with some impressive passages of handball, including a brilliant team play from the midfield into the forward line to create a goal-scoring opportunity.
With just two rounds remaining, the young Bulldogs continue to improve each week.
Best players were Theo Burgan, Blake Ramage, Lucas Rodakis, Ryan Wilson and Charlie McCabe.
