Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre (PICAL) is helping locals to stay connected, as they access the new 1800MEDICARE app.
The community centre is offering free support for locals who wish to download and navigate 1800MEDICARE from its site at 16 Warley Ave, Cowes.
New 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422) is a free national health service available anywhere in Australia, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The app is a secure and convenient way to view key health information that individuals, healthcare providers or representatives have uploaded to My Health Record.
The app allows you to access electronic prescriptions, your Active Script List as well as other features including: find and book a health service, search a symptom checker, and access information about medical and pharmaceutical services provided by Medicare.
If you would like support to download and navigate the 1800MEDICARE app, simply visit PICAL at 16 Warley Ave, Cowes, anytime between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, until June 29.
Informal support sessions with PICAL volunteer Jackson will be available from 1pm on Monday June 15, 22 and 29; or free support is also available from Services Australia staff.
David Rooks, Centre Manager PICAL, said the free initiative reflected PICAL's mission to build a resilient community.
"At PICAL we focus on making sure the community can access the services and support they need, when they need them," he said.
"Our team are ready to help others to download and navigate the app. We know it will be valuable."
