Schoolies arriving

Phillip Island police reported an extremely quiet weekend but said Schoolies have arrived in the area. They confirmed patrols will be ramping up from this week. The official date for School Leavers Week is November 27 through to December 4, but extra patrols will run this week, over the weekend and the following two weeks. An announcement on local policing arrangements for the Schoolies period is scheduled for Wednesday, November 24.

Car accident

A car accident on the Bass Highway near Bass on Monday afternoon saw traffic delays for anyone travelling to the island. The accident occurred near the Woolamai Road intersection and police say a 56-year-old-male lost control of his vehicle, hit the barrier and rolled. No other vehicles were involved and the man was not seriously injured. Police from Cowes and the Bass Coast Highway Patrol were at the scene, along with other emergency services.

A doctor who travels from Melbourne to work at the Bass Coast Health Emergency Department in Wonthaggi had his car stolen earlier this month.
