Prizes and surprises at Christmas in July
Whether it’s via sponsorship, grants, university and primary school scholarships, handing out free defibrillators or the latest Christmas in July event, the Community Bendigo Banks of San Remo, Cowes and Grantville just can’t stop giving.
After two years of being restricted with funds-giving events due to COVID-19, our friendly local community banks are back in business in 2022 with Christmas in July, on Friday July 29 at the Kilcunda Bass Football Netball Club. And they’re encouraging all schools, community and sporting groups to ‘pitch for their project’.
“Christmas in July is run differently to grants or sponsorship – groups ‘pitch’ for the prize by dancing, singing or otherwise presenting their group’s project – it’s really seen as a fun, spirited event for the entire community,” said Peter Paul, Chair of the Board of the Community Bendigo banks.
“We ran it in July 2019 and had 16 groups share in a substantial prize pool, not to mention enjoying refreshments and a lot of entertainment!”
This year, $5000 is up for grabs for first prize, with the plenitude of other prizes a closely guarded secret.
Interested groups simply need to present a maximum four minute “pitch” on how $5000 will benefit their club or our community: they can sing, tell jokes, dance, do a magic trick – the more creative the better!
The pitch with the highest number of audience votes will win, and every audience member will receive a vote. Simply pick up an application form from your local San Remo, Cowes and Grantville Bendigo Bank, and return it by June 30. Alternatively, you can email admin@srdfs.com.au.
“We’re encouraging all community groups, schools and sporting groups to enter – it’s a great opportunity to get together, have a fun night out with your group and have a chance to win a host of prizes, not to mention the grand prize,” concluded Peter.
