Protect your community
Local businesses and organisations have thrown their support behind a vaccination campaign.
Everyone is dreaming of a summer of freedom.
With the government providing a roadmap out of lockdown once the state reaches a 70 per cent and 80 per cent fully vaccinated rate, local businesses and organisations have thrown their support behind a vaccination campaign.
Destination Phillip Island (DPI) is one such group, saying reaching the vaccination target is the best way to get businesses back to work.
“Getting back to work for the tourism industry supports over 4500 jobs and economic activity for the region,” said DPI General Manager Kim Storey,
“Our community relies on the services and experiences local businesses deliver so it’s time to roll up your sleeve and help us get to the vaccination targets that have been set.”
Kim said it was important for people to know the local options for getting vaccinated, including medical clinics, pharmacies and through Bass Coast Health.
“We applaud the work our health services are delivering, and have delivered since March 2020.”
Debbie Wardell, clinic manager at the Cowes Medical Centre said getting vaccinated was the most effective way to get life back to normal.
“By getting vaccinated you are protecting yourselves, your families and helping protect the whole community.”
She said both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines were now available at the Cowes Medical Centre.
Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said the response to the call to get vaccinated had been fantastic, with 74 per cent of Bass Coast residents receiving their first vaccination. Around 53 per cent are fully vaccinated.
“Vaccination is our way out of this health crisis and it is also the way to fast-track the return of tourists to the Bass Coast region, who are vital to our economy,” Cr Tessari said.
