Road rage at proposed bitumen removal

Residents wanting to fight Shire's plans to remove bitumen on residential streets and return them to gravel have been urged to create a petition.

After 2023's Surf Beach and Sunderland Bay Special Charge Scheme was abandoned following a bruising two-year campaign, councillors approved a policy that allows large road upgrade projects to be broken into smaller ones and community-initiated road projects to be made easier to achieve. Cowes west residents, though, are not buying it.
