San Remo inspires Victoria’s new emblem

A “monster” carnivorous fossil found on the San Remo coastline is Victoria’s official state fossil emblem, after beating seven other contenders to the prestigious title.

San Remo inspires Victoria’s new emblem
Victoria’s fossil emblem is named after local fossil collector and educator Mike Cleeland. Victoria’s other state emblems are the Leadbeater’s possum (animal), the helmeted honeyeater (bird), the weedy sea dragon (marine animal), the common heath (flora), and gold (miner).
