Premier’s Design Awards

Entries are now open for the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards.

The Victorian Premier’s Design Awards recognise and reward the talent and innovation of Victorian designers and architects and Victorian businesses that use professional design to drive their success and economic growth.

The awards are open to designers, architects, design studios and businesses based in Victoria across eight design categories – architecture, product and industrial design, communications design, fashion, digital and service design, design strategy, and projects by tertiary design students.

Entries close on July 21, and entry is free.

Gone fishing

The state government will distribute 60,000 free Little Angler Kits to grade five primary students in more than 1900 Victorian schools later this year.

The kits will set families up with everything they need to wet a line including a fishing rod and reel, line, tackle box, some tackle and a Kids’ Guide to Fishing that includes information and links to educational resources to learn the basics such as fishing safety, knots and rigs.

Every year, free VicFishKids events provide kids with the opportunity to try fishing with help from experts and Fishcare volunteers. All fishing gear is supplied and every child heads home with a free rod to continue their fishing journey on their next holiday with family and friends.

School upgrades and improvements

The new $10 million grants round of the Minor Capital Works Fund means schools can apply for grants of up to $500,000 to support projects including refurbishing classrooms, new playground equipment and bike sheds.
