Successful week for Sharks - A1 grade
A grade’s, Zac Brown celebrated his 150th game for PIDCC.

A1 grade

Heading over to Leongatha for our first hit out on Turf, the A grade boys were looking to make it two wins to start the season against a dashing Imperials lineup.

Losing the toss on a wicket that looked as if it would be tricky to bat on, the Island Sharks were asked to bowl first.

Opening bowling, Simon Kirton under an injury cloud, pushed through with the new ball and was joined by off spinner Shiran for a bit of a different look on the bare wicket.

It paid off as Shiran struck in his first over, removing Ginnane for a duck.

Shortly after, Kirton removed the plucky Higgins for 2, the Sharks were chomping their way through the dangerous Imps top order.

Shiran struck again to further the damage, before the introduction of Big Tom Niven saw the sharks rip the game apart.

A classy runout from young gun Tim Niven, saw the back of the last recognised batsmen.

U17 spearhead George McCausland was brought on with immediate effect.

The long travelling Zac Brown was stingy in his 7.3 overs picking up a wicket whilst also producing a run out off his own bowling.

Eventually the Imps were all out for 56 off 23 overs, with Tom Niven the pick of the bowlers finishing with an impressive 3/6 off 5.

Small totals can sometimes be tricky, however the Sharks opening batsman made light work of the chase.

Lochie Cleeland finished with a classy 48 not out, whilst future star Heath Wommersly ably supported him down the other end to finish not out in his best innings of his short A grade career.

A great win by a side that included three U17 players.

A special shout out to Zac Brown who played his 150th senior club game.

San Remo Hotel player of the match: Tom Niven.
