Successful week for Sharks - C1 grade

C1 grade

C grade started their title defence at Rhyll on Saturday against MDU.

MDU won the toss and elected to bat.

The Sharks opened the bowling with Steve Niven and Sachin, both bowled tight opening spells.

Fall and Cleary replaced the openers and continued to restrict the scoring, but still could not get a breakthrough.

At drinks MDU were 0/31.

Dean Mani came on and got the breakthrough when Jackson Allen took a good catch at mid-off.

John Johnston bowled incredibly tightly, frustrating the batsmen and forced an error, resulting in Cleary and Paterson to combine for a run out.

Sachin then got a wicket and cleaned bowled, as MDU limped to 3/100 off their 35 overs.

Manning and Excell opened the batting for the Sharks and got off to a great start.

Both batsmen were hitting boundaries and scoring freely.

An ugly mix up in the middle saw Jonty run out for 37 and the Sharks were 1/51.

Mani made a duck which brought Sachin to the crease.

Sachin played his flamboyant shots, keeping the score ticking along.

Excell was then bowled for 21, bringing Jackson Allen to the wicket.

Jackson was batting solidly before being given out LBW for 1, followed by Sachin being caught for 15.

Fall hit a massive six as he and Cleary guided the Sharks over the line with five overs to spare.

A great start to the season for C grade with a win in their first game.
