Satirical duo John Clarke and Bryan Dawe were known and loved by Australians for their weekly ABC TV skewering of Aussie politicians, but were also familiar faces to island residents owning homes here for many years.
Sadly John died suddenly in 2017, but Bryan’s connection to the island continues, including as part of the Phillip Island Literary Festival.
John had a holiday home at Rhyll for more than 30 years where he and his wife Helen and two daughters spent most school holidays.
John was a keen photographer, worked with Landcare and was a founding member and director of the Westernport Seagrass Partnership where he helped produce a free DVD to educate community members on the challenges and treasures of Western Port Bay, and to understand it as he did.
