Well done to Alice Bradley – the hard working and dedicated manager of Bass Coast Health’s (BCH) Community Vaccination Clinic at Wonthaggi Town Hall.
Everyone at BCH knows that Alice is a ‘gem’ but now it’s official – Alice was recently named a ‘Community Gem’ by our Member for Bass, Ms Jordan Crugnale MP.
Alice received a gift box of local produce and a book in recognition of her award, when Jordan visited Wonthaggi Hospital recently.
Alice was nominated by several people in our community for the work she and her team are doing in vaccinating our community, with approximately 45,000 vaccinations given.
The award citation commended Alice and the vaccination team for “working long hours under harsh conditions in PPE. It was said that you are all ‘real heroes’ in your commitment to keeping our community safe”.
Alice was “amazed” by the honour.
“I have the most amazing team and this award is not just for me. I’m just so proud of my team. The community has just been so good to us,” she said.
BCH CEO Jan Child said Alice and the vaccination team had been instrumental in helping to reduce the impact of the Covid pandemic on the Bass Coast community.
“We know that vaccination is essential to giving a person the best protection against COVID-19 and it is through the work of Alice and her team that most eligible people in our community have been vaccinated,” she said.
“Alice has been outstanding in organising vaccine supply, ensuring her staff are aware of the latest vaccination procedures, and for ensuring people feel safe and welcome when they attend the clinic.
“We are so lucky to have Alice at Bass Coast Health.”
Local MP Jordan Crugnale began the Community Gem initiative two years ago wanting to hear about people who had shown their true community colours and made someone’s heart sing with their generosity of spirit, selflessness, act of kindness or exemplary service during the pandemic.
“I was inundated with beautiful stories of people who also made my heart sing, filled me with pride and again exemplified the very best of us and I wanted to thank them too,” she said.
