Vaccinations and testing sites continue … for now
The status of the Community Vaccination Centre that has run at the Wonthaggi Town Hall throughout the pandemic is under review.
The status of the Community Vaccination Centre that has run at the Wonthaggi Town Hall throughout the pandemic is under review.
This comes as Bass Coast Health (BCH) declared a Code Yellow last week, saying staff shortages were at emergency levels.
Last month, the government announced state-run vaccination clinics across Victoria would start to scale down by the end of May.
Approximately 30 state-run vaccination centres will remain in operation, with a focus on services in priority Local Government Areas and vulnerable communities.
The Bass Coast Health’s vaccination clinic is currently open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with updates on opening hours posted on the BCH Facebook page.
It also runs a testing site in Watt Street, Wonthaggi, on the site of the old McBride Street campus, every day except Sunday, from 9am – 4pm.
The Cowes Health Hub has a Rapid Antigen Test distribution clinic on Mondays and Thursdays between 9.30am and 11.30am.
Ms Child said BCH is reviewing its role in vaccination and testing, and “will explore other service opportunities to ensure resources are targeted to the areas of greatest need”.
