Victoria locks down from 11.59 tonight
The Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the entire state will go into a five day snap lockdown from 11.59pm tonight, until midnight on Tuesday, July 20.

The Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the entire state will go into a five day snap lockdown from 11.59pm tonight, until midnight on Tuesday (July 20).

There are only five reasons to leave home:

  • to get food and supplies
  • for exercise for up to two and no more than 5kms from your home
  • care or caregiving
  • work or education if you can't do it from home
  • to get vaccinated at nearest possible location

A full list of authorised work and workers is available online.

The Premier said the restrictions were the same as in the previous lockdown.

"If you were an authorised worked during the last lockdown, you'll be an authorised worker this time around," he said.

"Everyone else must work from home."

Face masks are now mandatory and must be warn outdoors at all times, as well as indoors everywhere except your home.

The Premier said he realised the lockdown would be frustrating for regional areas not experiencing any cases or a long way from Melbourne.

"We will release parts of regional Victoria earlier if it is safe to do so," he said.

There are currently 18 cases in Victoria and 75 exposure sites, with 1500 primary and 5000 secondary close contacts identified.

"If we act now - while we are right on the heels of this outbreak - we can give ourselves every chance of getting ahead of it," the Premier said.
