Wet and wild footy - U12 Red

The Reds travelled to Korumburra this week and were greeted by wintery conditions.

The team took the wild weather in their stride and started the game strongly from the midfield.

Heath Fitzpatrick provided a tall target up forward and was able to bring the ball to ground, giving our smaller players a good chance.

Flynn Riley once again hit the scoreboard, kicking our first goal of the game.

Denver Preddice Firth adapted to the conditions quickly as he racked up disposals and dominated across half forward.

Archie Robinson scooped the ball up at centre half forward and kicked a huge goal on the run to start the second quarter.

“The General” Kolby Carton took charge of the backline and repelled multiple entries.

Zane Larsson found plenty of footy, showing poise under pressure to break out of packs and kick accurately to teammates in space.

Jai Opitz snapped a goal on the run before half time to give us a handy lead.

The third quarter saw Dustin Naismith kick two goals, Ry Sheers one goal and Aiden Smith one goal.

The Reds broke the game open and constantly attacked the contest.

It was great to see the clean ball movement considering the conditions.

The team looked frozen solid in the last quarter but pushed through and managed to add to the scoreboard with goals from Callam Chamber and Archie Robinson.

A great team effort today and I’m sure everyone enjoyed a long, hot shower afterwards!
