A Grade

On a wet and windy day at Cowes the A1 boys played host to Korumburra on a day that was looking like it would be hard to get a result due to the weather.

With the Cobras batting first, Simon Kirton (2 for 15 off 6) and Shiran Rathnayake (0 for 10 off 6) open up the bowling and did a fantastic job as per usual.

With Kirton taking a wicket off the first ball of the game, caught behind to wicketkeeper Jarrod Black.
The boys did as they always do and applied great pressure with the ball and on the field and were able to restrict any run scoring opportunities.

At the drinks break the score was 2 for 39 off 20 overs with the Cobras ticking along at a fairly slow rate.

This set the tone for the send half of the innings with Charith Keerthisinghe (1 for 8 off 8) and Clint (The Foss) Wilson (2 for 5 off 8) bowling the 8 overs each on the run, taking 3 for 13 as a bowling duo.

Korumburra looked determined not to lose their 10 wickets and finished their innings 7 for 63.

With the clouds looking ominous the Sharks wanted to make short work of the run chase so Shiran Rathnayake was promoted to the top of the order and did exactly that.

He blasted 40 off 20 balls with Lochie Cleeland at the end rotating the strike well.

The Sharks took just 7.2 overs to chase down the 63 set by Korumburra.

Making that the third win on the trot.

Next week we travel to Leongatha to take on the Imperials.

Go Sharks!
