Tough end to the season for B Grade

Finals time!

An exciting time of the year and one which the B grade girls have been incredibly excited for and are grateful to be a part of.

Finishing third on the ladder, the Island girls were really looking forward to going into this part of the season as a united team that are so happy to be by each other’s side on the court.

Coming up against Dalyston, the girls knew it was going to be a tough battle.

The girls worked hard pre-game in order to conquer the jitters and focus the mind, and despite the horrid rain that fell at the beginning, it really helped the girls get a good start.

As expected, the Daly girls were never going to let the Islanders step too far ahead, making their way back into the even contest at the first quarter break.

Throughout the second, the lead constantly changed, with momentum swinging both ways at different stages of the quarter.

At half time, the Islanders paused for a moment to reflect on how hungry they were for the win and what they needed to do to get there.

This helped, with the girls taking reign on the game and forging a small but important lead.

Once again though, the momentum shifted and to Daly’s credit, they fought very hard and got on top of the jittery Islanders to make an 11-goal turnaround and take a 6-goal lead at the three-quarter break.

The girls knew they had to really dig deep and find another gear if they were to swing this game around in the last quarter.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and just like that, the season was over.

As disappointing as it was, all good things must come to an end and the girls hold their heads high that despite many challenges throughout the season, both on and off the court, their friendship, love, and care for one another always remained strong.

Never a moment where there wasn’t fun, laughter, banter, good times and banging tunes.

What a season it was ladies, wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else!
