Additional Phillip Island netball reports

D Grade

In a spirited contest, the D Grade team secured their second win of the season.

Despite an early lead from Dalyston, Phillip Island rallied, showcasing strong plays and defensive prowess.

Raelene's standout performance earned her best on ground, supported by Cathy's consistent goals and Sarah's solid defence.

Scores: Phillip Island: 24 def Dalyston: 17.

U17

Phillip Island’s U17s delivered a convincing performance against Dalyston on the weekend, overcoming the challenges of wet courts to secure a decisive victory away from home.

Both teams initially had to adjust to the slippery conditions, leading to a slower start, but Phillip Island quickly established a solid lead, finishing the first quarter 10-5 with Isla and Sophia strong in defence.

In the second quarter, the Island girls lifted the intensity, Matilda and Meika worked well together in goals.

Maya, Jazzy and Abby created a flow through the midcourt to drive the ball into the ring and by the end of the quarter were leading 22-10.

The third quarter saw some changes in positions for Phillip Island with Tilly demonstrating her skill in goals and Jasira back in defence.

These changes showed the girls' variety in their game along with their ability to adapt, creating seamless transitions between players. By the end of the quarter, they had extended their lead to 34-19.

Finishing the game strong with all players working together as a team, Phillip Island secured a comfortable win, setting themselves up for the rest of the season.

Final scores: Phillip Island: 45 def Dalyston: 25.

Best on court: Isla Walton and Jazz Mau.

U15

A wet court made for an interesting game against the U15s normal fast pace.

Throughout the first quarter, Adelle had a huge impact on the game in defence. With both the Island’s tall defenders out, Ellie had to find her feet in GD after playing most of the season in the midcourt.

A second quarter slump made Ava, Piper and Maisie work hard. Ellie was brought out into C and Isla proved to be a huge asset in defence.

The last quarter showed great poise across the team along with Mia and Aisha getting some steady goals.

Awards: Adelle and Isla.

Scores: Phillip Island: 28 def Dalyston: 15.

U13

The Phillip Island girls made their way to Dalyston for the Big Freeze Fundraiser and what a big freeze it was – literally.

A busy Dalyston team took to clearing the rain drenched courts to avoid any future injuries and the girls were ready for an action-packed game.

The centre was busy with Kate launching into action and some fast-paced passing saw Eden and Macy consistently shoot five points in the first quarter.

Charlee was fast and intercepting beautifully as WD, and Ivy and Piper pounded into action in the wings.

The Island girls barely let Dalyston at the ball in the second quarter and led 10-5 by half time.

Awards: Charlee and Eden.

Scores: Phillip Island: 20 def Dalyston: 12.
