Bright green dye at yacht club

EPA Victoria has confirmed a bright green liquid flowing from a stormwater drain to Western Port Bay at Cowes was a harmless tracing dye used by plumbers to confirm pipe connections.

A local beach walker alerted the EPA to the fluro green water near the Cowes Yacht Club. The EPA responded saying it was a harmless tracing dye used by plumbers: "We call on all tradies to be extra careful when using fluorescein. If you accidentally use too much or notice it entering the stormwater system, report it to EPA."
