The Senior School journey begins in Year 9, where students are encouraged to ignite their curiosity and take an active role in their learning.

Through a carefully designed program that embraces diverse teaching approaches and experiential learning, students deepen their understanding while creating meaningful experiences that extend well beyond the classroom.

In Year 10, students begin the formal Senior School curriculum, providing a strong foundation for VCE and future pathways. A balanced program of core subjects and a broad range of electives allows students to strengthen essential skills while exploring areas of personal interest.

Opportunities to personalise learning in Mathematics and Science, together with a diverse elective program, encourage students to make informed choices about their future studies.

VCE and VET

Students demonstrating strong academic achievement may also apply to undertake selected VCE subjects in Year 10.

This opportunity allows capable learners to experience the expectations of senior studies while extending their academic potential.

During Years 11 and 12, students can choose from a wide range of VCE and VET subjects, enabling them to tailor a program that reflects their individual strengths, interests and aspirations.

Whether their plans include university, TAFE, an apprenticeship or direct entry into the workforce, flexible pathways support students in achieving their goals.

For students who thrive through applied learning, the VCE Vocational Major (VM) provides an alternative senior pathway focused on practical learning, work readiness and real-world skills.

Students also have the opportunity to complete nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications, including Certificate II in Construction Pathways, gaining valuable industry experience while completing their secondary education.

Beyond the classroom, students can enrich their Senior School experience through a wide range of elective subjects and co-curricular opportunities.

From music, sport and the arts to the Surf Academy, Mountain Bike Academy and Equestrian Program, students are encouraged to pursue their passions, develop new skills and make the most of every opportunity.

Throughout Senior School, students are supported by Newhaven College's dedicated Careers Centre.

From Year 10, personalised guidance, annual one-on-one interviews and advice on subject selection, work experience and post-school pathways help students make informed decisions and confidently plan for their future.
