Celebrate with San Remo's seafood festival

This year's TIDAL Seafood Festival weekend kicks off on Friday evening, September 18 with a multi-course seafood dinner, serving scrumptious local, sustainably sourced Bass Strait seafood to wow your taste buds.

You can even watch the paella being prepared while you mingle amongst the crowd.

The evening starts at 5.45pm with live music and entertainment, while you dine on the foreshore, next to the waters of Western Port.

The festival on Saturday and Sunday has an entry fee of $7.50 for adults (16 and above) and kids go free. The jam-packed program includes food stalls, kids' playground, cooking demonstrations, guest speakers, fish bingo, Blessing of the Fleet, live performances and delicious local seafood.

Once again, Wildlife Coast Cruises will be running three one-hour scenic tours each day as part of the festival, departing from the San Remo Jetty. Don't miss this chance to experience the beauty of Cape Woolamai.

Saturday

Saturday there is plenty to do and see.

There are food vendors with seafood to try and fresh fish sales at the Co-op loading dock.

For those not into seafood there are market and information stalls of all types.

There is a kids playground area and the outdoor stage is busy all day with guest speakers, cooking and seafood preparation demonstrations with a game of fish bingo to finish.

Keep your eye out too for roving performances from Red Mo the Pirate and the Invy Horn Band.

The all-weather marquee will have plenty of food offerings and live music and many more things to fill in the day.

Saturday's Blessing of the Fleet is a centuries-old tradition that ensures a safe and bountiful season for our local fishermen.

Both commercial and recreational boats can take part.

The blessing will begin on the main stage, followed by a walk to the San Remo Jetty to bless the boats.

An important event which has been held on San Remo Jetty since the early 1960s, make sure you bring a camera to capture the occasion.

For the youngsters, there's a chance to work on their deckie skills, with a Junior Deckie Certified program.

There's a range of activities for the kids to complete, to receive their honorary deckhand certificate.

Sunday

The fun all kicks off again Sunday morning with a whole new program, that is sure to delight the kids.

Over on the foreshore, you can enjoy more market stalls, more entertainment for young and old, and plenty of seafood.

Sunday is all about families and starts off with performances by the San Remo Primary School pre-school on the stage in the main marquee.

The program then heads into the kids' marquee near the playground for a full day of fun, including the Deckie Certified program.

Live music takes over in the main marquee and at 11am the feature for the day starts on the outdoor stage.

Artists performing during the day include Rowie and South Dudley Tom; Seth and The Forge; Laing Brothers; Mark Howard and John Kendall; and Cali Road.
There are also a series of Come and Try fishing sessions run by Fishcare Victoria.
