Get to a holiday clinic
Get a taste of netball, or hone your skills at the PIFNC Netball Clinics on January 16 and 18 in Cowes.
The Phillip Island Football Netball Club is holding a series of Netball Clinics in January, designed to build up skills in younger players.
The sessions focus on "fun, fitness and footwork", with different clinics for ages ranging from under 11 through to under 17.
The sessions are open to everyone – locals and holidaymakers – and you don't need to be a club member to take part.
Organiser Christie Edwards said the clinics are designed to cater for all abilities.
"You don't have to have played before.
"If you're interested in netball, come along and find out more."
The clinics are designed to "open up the space" to anyone who might be interested – whatever their age, ability or gender.
The youngest session is designed for children 11 years and under, and suitable for children as young as eight.
This is the second year the club has run the clinics, with last year's sessions attracting around 50 - 60 participants.
Some went on to become permanent members of the club.
"Last year, we gained four or five new members," Christie said.
"Some hadn't played before, some were new to the area. The clinic is a chance to get a feel for what our club is like.
"It's a good way to get to know people, and make some friends, or if you just want to keep your netball skills up during the holidays."
As well as coaching tips and drills to improve skills, the sessions will include a match.
Members of the Phillip Island A-Grade team will be on hand to provide coaching advice.
The sessions for 11 and under and 13 and under are on January 16 and 18, 9am - 11am,
The Under 15 and 17 sessions are on January 16 and 18 from 12pm - 2pm.
All sessions will be at the Cowes Recreation Reserve.
Cost is $30 per child.
Participants don't need any special equipment or uniforms.
"Just wear sports attire, like runners, shorts and t-shirts," Christie advised.
"There's no dress code."
She recommends bringing a drink bottle, snacks and sunscreen.
