The island's U13 White team: Evie, Ellie, Lavinia, Ruby, Holly, Willow Alana and Coach Casey.

U13 Red

Saturday saw the island's U13 Reds go up against the top ranked Kilcunda Bass U13s team at Leongatha.

Coach Trish put forward a strong line-up across the court for the first half of the game which saw the girls going goal-for-goal with Kilcunda Bass, which kept the game low and tight at half time with scores sitting at 5-4.

The second half saw a minor shift of positions and the island's defenders Alexis, Sera and Miranda turned up the heat, intercepting ball after ball resulting in turnovers that allowed goal shooters Hazel, Madison and Aliza to keep the scores in close check until the final whistle.

Although the final score didn't give them the win, it was a fantastically hard-fought game for the island Red girls which demonstrated how passionate, determined and strong they are becoming as a team.

Best on court: Miranda and Sera for their sensational defence.

Scores: Kilcunda Bass: 11 def Phillip Island Red: 9.

U13 White

The island's White team took on Mt Eccles' Grey side over the weekend.

It was a tough and competitive match with scores almost even at half time, resulting in the island's White team taking victory 14-10.

Willow and Ellie as the island's goalers were fabulous, their communication was excellent and long, efficient passes right to the ring helped the goal tally rise.

Midcourt was much improved this week, with centre Ruby using her boundless energy to cover the court.

Lavinia as WD assisted with some great intercepts, and Alana as WA skilfully worked to re-offer and drive the ball down to our end.

Fierce defenders Evie and Holly kept the pressure at a high intensity for the duration of the game. Their efforts were rewarded with some great turnovers.

Thank you to Evie, Indi and Pollie from the Blue team who each played a quarter when we had some injuries to navigate around.

Best on court: Ruby and Ellie.

Scores: Phillip Island White: 14 def Mt Eccles Grey: 10.
