Congratulations to the Island’s U13 Red team who took out a close victory against Phillip Island White.

U13 Red

Saturday saw Phillip Island Red hit the court against Phillip Island White in what was to be a stellar semi-final.

Island Red took to the court with a solid game plan and a buzz of nerves and excitement.

The first quarter saw some of those nerves play out in shaky hands, but with a few encouraging words from the crowd, the team settled and managed to find their flow.

With the strong and true attack of Ella (C), Hazel (WA), Madi (GA) and Aliza (GS) the scores began to rise.

The second quarter was a hard-fought battle by the Reds, as the team took advantage of blazing intercepts by Alexis (GD), Ella (C), Sophia (WA) and Georgie (WD) as they flew around the midcourt.

The atmosphere was electric by the end of the quarter as the scores sat level heading into half time.

With a positive and uplifting team chat during the break, the girls went back into the last half with a newfound determination and it showed.

Miranda (WD), Sera (GK) and Alexis (GD) proved yet again to be a powerhouse of defence and focused on securing turnovers that saw Red’s goalers continue to up the score.

With great encouragement and positive words to each other on court, as the minutes of the final quarter ticked down, Island Red managed to take the lead and at the final whistle lock in a hard-fought win to see them through to the preliminary final next weekend.

U13 White

This year the White team began as a group of fresh, eager girls who just wanted to play netball.

Over the season, their drive and improvement has been next level.

Saturday’s game saw the girls in an epic final against the Island Red team.

The group fought hard and gave it everything however were unable to hang on to take the win in the end.

The club give their thanks to each player and their respective efforts:

Ruby: gives 100 per cent effort every week, is skilful and delightful.
Alana: strong, reliable and funny.
Lavenia: swift, resilient and compassionate.
Evie: energetic, powerful and magnetic.
Willow: outstanding, tough and generous.
Indi: exciting, determined and resilient.
Holly: spirited, ambitious and fun.
Ellie: a shooting star, influential and kind.
Noah: an adaptable “little legend” and energising.
Emily: powerful, skilled and gracious.

Additionally, they give their thanks to the stand in players, along with the parents, whose unwavering support has helped shape the team into a top class crew.
