Island netballers tough it out to secure semi-finals spot
U17s netballers won in a thriller against Inverloch, securing their place in Sunday's semi-finals. Maya Huther in action.

B Grade

Despite being underdogs and playing on Inverloch's home turf, the Phillip Island B Grade netballers showed remarkable determination.

The girls came out strong and maintained their intensity throughout the match.

It was a true team effort, with every player contributing, ending in a thrilling win over Inverloch to keep their finals dream alive.

The team is excited to head into the semi-final next Sunday, September 1, to give it another crack.

U17

Korumburra started strong, winning the first quarter and up by three goals.

Maya in centre delivered and Sophia and Isla strong in defence, with Jazzy playing body on against her opponent.

In the second quarter, the Island kept themselves in the game.

Tilly remained composed with the ball in attack, and Ellie came on the court and gave Maya a break in centre.

Jasira entered the game and worked hard in repelling Korumburra’s attacks.

At half time Korumburra were still leading and up by four goals.

After the break the Island returned fiercely, with their signature attack.

Abby working well in the mid court, and Meika and Matilda hitting their mark on the scoreboard.

The defence stepped it up a notch, with Ruby turning her leaps into turn overs, and at three quarter time Phillip Island gained the lead by two goals.

The Island brought it home in the final quarter, gaining steady momentum throughout and ran away with the victory.

What an amazing game, the team never gave up and left nothing on the court.

Under 11

In the Under 11 elimination final against Koo Wee Rup at Inverloch, the girls showcased impressive teamwork and determination, securing an 11-point victory.

With strong performances from every player, they not only had a blast but also earned a spot in the semi-finals.

The girls face Cora Lynn on Sunday at their home ground.
