Island takes on Korumburra in thrilling encounter

A Grade

B Grade
B Grade took the trek over to Korumburra after a week off, with determination to get a win on the board.
The island girls came out strong with confidence and speed, ready to tackle the game. The 'Burra girls were a strong team but that didn't stop Sophia Hungerford from coming on and dominating in the island's defence end, along with the support of Anthea and Soph.
The goalers were on fire with consistency, whilst the speed and versatility from the island's mid courters overpowered Korumburra.
The ability to play their game in tense moments during the game was commendable by the girls. It was a fantastic win and the team are pumped for next week.
Best on: Sophia Hungerford and Aisha Hibbert.

C Grade
Coming up against Korumburra, the island's C Grade team were in hopes of securing their first win for the season.
With a change of scenery, the game was held indoors allowing for a fast game to be played by both teams.
The team, led by Georgie and Ruby in defence, showcased their resilience against their formidable opponents of the 'Burra shooters.
The game unfolded with Kate seamlessly covering the wing attack position, while Steph orchestrated the midfield with finesse and Rachael Cameron manoeuvred efficiently as wing defence, shutting down her opponent.
Alisha and Katie - the shooting duo, did everything that they could in the goal circle to secure goals to start the game off. It was a slow start to stick with the opposition in the first quarter, which saw the score line opened up by 'Burra (14 - 4).
With a few changes early in the game, Jazzy came on into GK for fresh legs. Mattox also brought some more fast movement in the wing attack position.
During the rest of the game, different dynamics were tried and tested.
Phillip Island fought all the way through the game trying to ensure the score board wasn't blown out too much.
It was a tough game for the defenders to shut down a well experienced Korumburra shooter - all the defenders should be proud of their continuous determination all game.
The mid courters proved their growing connection as teammates, displaying great movement, passing down the court and sticking tight with their opponents when needing to apply defensive pressure.
The attacking end worked hard all game, feeding into the shooters who persisted on finding the best position in the goal circle.
Unfortunately, C Grade hasn't found a win yet this season but there have been great moments presented by the island team each week.

D Grade
In a tightly contested D Grade encounter at Korumburra's indoor venue, the island fought valiantly but ultimately succumbed.
Despite the loss, each player contributed significantly, exemplifying teamwork and dedication on the court.
Abby's exceptional performance in orchestrating plays through the mid-court and Paige's tenacious defensive efforts were particularly commendable, earning them the "best on" recognition.
While the result didn't go the island's way, the team's collective effort and spirit were evident throughout the match.

U17

U15
For the first time over the weekend, the island's U15s had their full line up to play against the Korumburra Giants.
From the start the girls dominated, creating great passages of play and getting turnovers everywhere.
Adelle, Mia and Aisha were amazing in goals with their high percentage accuracy and movement within the ring.
Midcourters Piper, Isla, Maisie, Ava and Ellie were fast in attack with precision passing and shut down their opponents perfectly. Tilly and Ruby's ability to read the play and intercept incoming passes made it very difficult for the Korumburra Bena girls to get close to goals. A strong win for the island.

U13
It was fresh and foggy for a trip to Korumburra as the island's U13s made their way in search of a defeat against the Korumburra Giants.
With the game looking different than usual (due to the use of the indoor courts), the island girls took it upon themselves to work like the team they knew they could be.
With a soaring Kate in the centre, a strong goal defence from Macy and Frankie Jess with her perfect goal shooting aim, the girls were able to get up by four points in the first quarter.
With Abi on strong attack and Piper nestled in the wings they were able to take it home by a very close three points.
Best on: Frankie Jess and Ella Solohub.

U11
In a thrilling U11s match, the team triumphed with a commanding victory over Korumburra.
The high-paced indoor match showcased exceptional teamwork and precision passing throughout.
Meisha and Sage shone brightly, with their stellar performances earning them the "best on" recognition.
Notably, the shooters demonstrated remarkable accuracy, ensuring points were consistently racked up and the tight defence from the island's defenders kept Korumburra goalies to a low score.
