Federal election survey

The community has been asked to provide feedback as part of a review of the last federal election.

Mr Jerome Laxale MP, Committee Chair, has said matters widely reported during the 2025 election raise serious questions about safety, security and voter experience.

“Voters, volunteers and officials should never feel intimidated, harassed or have such an experience that they are discouraged from participating at future elections.”

The full terms of reference for the inquiry and are available on the inquiry webpage

Submissions addressing any or all of the terms of reference are now invited, prior to the Committee commencing public hearings in mid-October.

Support for women in local government

The State Government has announced new funding for the Australian Local Government Women’s Association Victoria to deliver programs that will help women councillors grow the professional skills and networks they need to thrive in the local government sector.

A $20,000 contribution will make possible a mentoring program connecting 20 women councillors with experienced mentors offering career guidance and support. Applicants who sit as the only woman on council in several municipalities across Victoria will be prioritised for inclusion in the program.

The government has also established the Mary Rogers Achievement Award, to celebrate women councillors working to advance gender equality in the local government sector.
