Making Bass Coast Roads Safer for everyone

Bass Coast Shire Council is asking the community to provide feedback on a new Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan.

Whether you drive, ride, walk, cycle or catch public transport, council wants to hear what would make Bass Coast roads feel safer for you.

"Thanks to funding from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), we're working to better understand the big and small road safety issues that affect people every day," council stated.

"Your insights will help shape future actions and initiatives aimed at making our roads safer for everyone."

Road safety remains a significant issue in Bass Coast. Between 2015 and 2024, there were:

• 22 lives lost on our roads
• 311 crashes resulting in serious injuries
• 822 crashes in total
  
  Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a community affected. Even one life lost is one too many.
  
  "Whether you drive a car or truck, catch public transport, walk, ride a bicycle or motorcycle, your experiences matter.
  
  "By sharing what you've seen and experienced on our roads, paths and streets, you can help us identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement."
  
  Council is holding two workshops where you can come and share your experiences:
  
  The first is in Cowes this week, Thursday August 13, from 12pm - 2pm in the large community room at Berninneit.
  
  A second session will be held at the Wonthaggi Town Hall (Baillieu Street East) on August 24, from 5.30pm - 7.30pm.
  
  There's also an online survey where you can share your experiences and provide feedback.
