In 2026, fundraising efforts are for Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, a well-known charity committed to supporting vital brain cancer research, improving survival rates, and creating a brighter future for brain cancer patients and their families.
"This year, the Year 12 Leadership team has chosen to support Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, a charity that holds particular significance within our community," College Captain Tilly Stecher, representing the Year 12 Leadership team, says.
"As a school, we aim to contribute to the purpose of the charity, raise awareness, and support those in our community who are affected by brain cancer."
Over the years, the Newhaven College community has shown strong support for fundraising initiatives, raising an impressive $52,700 since 2020.
In 2023, nearly $12,000 was donated to the Cancer Council, and in 2024, that figure was surpassed with a record $14,200 raised for the Bali Children Foundation.
So far this year, students have spent up big at bake sales, taken part in the Easter Raffle, guessed the number of lollies in a jar, and, the most fun for everyone involved, the 'Dress Up as One of Your Teachers' Day.
Staff joined in too, with Junior School teachers dressing as students, while the Middle School team donned matching dark suits and Swans scarves in a playful nod to Head of Middle School, Ralph Arceo.
The fundraising has begun in earnest, with the Year 12 Leaders hoping to raise more funds for this important charity.
